ASK:
The mission of Devices 4 the Disabled (D4D) is to collect and distribute wheelchairs, walkers and other Durable Medical Equipment to those in need. The organization began its partnership with Mekky Media Relations in the summer of 2019, with the goal of applying targeted media outreach to promote its work, success stories and opportunities for financial support.
RESULTS:
Mekky Media successfully pitched the story of D4D’s journey, achieving over 6 million in online readership and 190K in broadcast audience. The team secured an inspirational D4D feature on WCIU-TV’s popular morning program, “The Jam,” plus an in-depth Bob Shea interview on “Now.Chicago,” the public affairs program that airs on MeTV and other cable networks. The team placed Bob on WGN Radio’s morning program hosted by Steve Cochran, who honored Bob as MVPP (Most Valuable Person on the Planet). These pieces of coverage also received prominent placement online. The inspirational D4D story appeared online in the Daily Herald, Patch Chicago and My Social Good/GoodCrowd.info. These stories were posted in time for Giving Tuesday and highlighted opportunities to become a monthly donor. Mekky Media also conducted a website and social media audit and consulted on online content, to help D4D elevate its outreach.
Notable placements include:
Patch, My Social Good News, WGN Radio, WLS-AM, Daily herald, The Jam, ABC7, WCIU The U, MeTV, Now. Chicago
“Devices 4 The Disabled has been thrilled with the work Mekky Media has done. They have positively impacted our donations and donations in-kind through secured media and social media. I highly recommend them.”
