Michelle Mekky and Rachel Chick shared insights on dynamic publicity strategies for entrepreneurs at inaugural event

Mekky Media Relations took the stage at the first-ever Building a Boss Summit in Tampa, Florida on March 2, captivating over 150 attendees on the impact of powerful publicity and effective storytelling to elevate personal and professional brands. Michelle Mekky and Rachel Chick joined the lineup of over 20 panelists and speakers at the educational, one-day event where women from across the nation converged for empowering panels, shared successes and hands-on workshops to enhance their knowledge and create a deeper network of supportive women.

During the summit, Michelle and Rachel delivered a presentation on “The PR Success Blueprint: Unveiling 7 Keys to Powerful Publicity,” drawing from their industry experience and providing attendees with insights into unlocking how media and storytelling can effectively benefit a business. The team spoke on successful storytelling, impactful elevator pitches and becoming a thought leader, drawing from real Mekky Media case studies and partnerships.

“Standing on that stage, we wanted to provide something that attendees could take home and implement to make strategic shifts on how they speak about and publicize their companies,” Mekky said, “We were able to unveil a little of what we do every day at Mekky Media and shared a peek into what it takes to create powerful publicity. It was an honor to stand up on that stage with my colleague, Rachel, and share useful expertise that I know changed how the women at the summit thought about their stories and brands.”

During the session, the team sponsored a live pitch competition where two audience members pitched their businesses live on stage and received feedback in real time. Both participants received a free, one-hour public relations strategy session with Mekky Media. Michelle and Rachel also debuted a brand new offering at the summit, unveiling a “Do It Yourself PR Package” providing a three month, structured approach to PR and media outreach empowering individuals and businesses to take control of their public image and narrative.

Building a Boss Summit was founded by two women-owned brands – Boss Talks, a global mentorship platform for women entrepreneurs, and LEO + LAINE, a branding and digital marketing agency serving women entrepreneurs. A percentage of the proceeds from the summit’s ticket sales were donated to A Girl You Might Know Foundation, a charitable organization supporting young females and creatives during the formative time in their careers.
