Westfield Old Orchard, Chicagoland’s premier shopping center and lifestyle destination, welcomed artisan brand, It’s Oksana, into the center’s unique pop-up activation structure located in the core of the mall called The Cube. The space, which included handcrafted linen and hemp household products, clothing and accessories created by Ukrainian women artisans, was launched by Ukrainian native Oksana Ambroz-Trychta. The Cube became a temporary home to It’s Oksana with a portion of all sales benefiting the people of Ukraine in May of 2022 at the height of the war.
Mekky Media didn’t waste any time developing a strategic PR strategy to build buzz for this charitable activation with a month of lead time. In those short weeks the team garnered an abundance of attention and helped Westfield Old Orchard achieve the feel good and charitable centered press on the larger scale that they were aiming for. Mekky secured an on-site TV feature with ABC7, two hits from Patch Chicago and the Daily Herald.
