Start Early, formerly known as The Ounce, is a nonprofit public-private partnership advancing quality early learning and care for families with children, before birth through their earliest years, to help close the opportunity gap. MekkyMedia was hired to lead the rebrand strategy from The Ounce of Prevention to Start Early with the goals of securing press in minority-focused columns and outlets.
The Mekky team developed a strategy where we dove deep into the Start Early programming and were able to highlight key leadership and families that have benefited from Start Early. The team successfully highlighted the rebrand tied to the launch of a partnership with the Mayor’s office, with key broadcast interviews on two leading networks, layered in with key online interviews with several interview sources. Within five months of extremely targeted media coverage, Mekky Media secured 12 placements totaling over 53 million impressions.
