Carleigh Rinefierd is a Vice President at Mekky Media Relations and is responsible for overseeing client strategy and account teams, as well as generating media buzz, content management, and event coordination. She was recently named to PR News’ 2020 list of PR People of the Year and is a board member and communications co-chair for PRSA Chicago.
Carleigh has experience promoting some of America’s most iconic brands like Cinnabon, SC Johnson, Schlotzsky’s, Molly Maid & Mr. Handyman, and Thermos Brand, to name a few. Additionally, Carleigh has managed communications for niche B2B and trade clients within the manufacturing, logistics and real estate industries.
Prior to joining Mekky Media, she worked at Margie Korshak, Inc. where she discovered her passion for working within the hospitality and nonprofit sectors in Chicago and beyond. Here she led impactful programs ranging from community partnerships and crisis communications to star-studded events and social media campaigns for clients including Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation, Gateway for Cancer Research, Shoreline Sightseeing, Girls 4 Science, Bear Necessities, and Cedar Concepts Corporation. She also supported media relations for many entertainment, theater, and tourism venues around the city.
After graduating from DePaul University with a B.A. in Public Relations and Advertising, Carleigh began her career at 3rd Coast PR working on CPG brands and product launches. She then joined Fishman PR and honed her media relations skills to generate consumer, business and trade press in prominent outlets including The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Forbes, Nation’s Restaurant News, and Time Magazine.
Originally from Columbus, Ohio, she resides on the city’s North Side where she spends her evenings testing recipes from her favorite food blogs and her weekends enjoying Chicago’s lakefront. She is a founding member of Housing Opportunities for Women (HOW)’s Associate Board and sits on gala committees for a variety of Chicago-based nonprofits.
