As we enter 2025, I’ve made a conscious decision to eliminate the word “jealous” from my vocabulary and mindset, especially within my professional relationships. I have noticed an increasing use of this word among women. As a female entrepreneur, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it is when women uplift one another instead of allowing negative emotions like jealousy to cloud our relationships and our potential for growth.
The entrepreneurial journey is challenging enough without the added pressure of competition or insecurity. But I’ve realized that the more we celebrate each other’s successes, the more we create an environment of mutual respect and support, which ultimately leads to everyone’s growth, including our own.
Why It Matters
Many women have said things to me in passing, on social media, or in the gym and use the word jealous. In the past, I’ve experienced moments where feelings of jealousy, whether toward a colleague’s success or a friend’s achievements, crept in. It’s natural to compare ourselves, but I’ve come to understand that it only holds us back. Jealousy creates a toxic cycle, preventing us from embracing others’ success as a reflection of what is possible, not as something we are lacking. By shifting my focus from comparison to celebration, I’ve noticed a positive shift not only in my mindset but in my relationships as well. My favorite saying is “Comparison is the thief of joy” and it is so true.
As women entrepreneurs, we often face unique challenges in navigating leadership roles and establishing our businesses. We’ve worked hard to break barriers and prove ourselves, and it’s crucial that we continue to lift each other up rather than tear each other down. This year, I’m embracing the idea that when one woman succeeds, we all succeed.
The Power of Support
I have had the privilege of building a network of incredible women who support each other in business, from clients to collaborators to fellow entrepreneurs. The power of this support system has been instrumental in both my personal and professional growth. Every time I see one of my peers achieve something amazing, I am genuinely happy for them because their success is a sign of what’s possible—and it inspires me to reach for even greater heights.
When we support one another, we create a ripple effect of empowerment. For example, when women are celebrated for their achievements, it fosters an environment where others feel inspired and confident to do the same. It becomes a cycle of growth, collaboration, and shared success. This mindset shift is something I am committed to fostering within my business, with my team, and among the women I work with.
Leading with Empowerment
As a leader and entrepreneur, I believe it’s essential to lead by example. I want my team, clients, and network to know that I am here to support their growth, celebrate their wins, and collaborate without reservation. The more we, as women, focus on empowerment and encouragement rather than comparison and jealousy, the more we create a foundation of trust and mutual respect in our professional environments.
In this new year, I challenge myself, and other women in business, to continue this mindset shift. Let’s replace jealousy with admiration, competition with collaboration, and insecurity with confidence. Together, we can build stronger, more successful businesses, uplift each other, and prove that success is not a limited resource but something that grows when shared.
A New Chapter in Business
This year, I will continue to nurture relationships where we celebrate each other’s wins, no matter how big or small. Whether it’s congratulating a fellow business owner on a new venture or cheering on a colleague’s success, I am committed to being a part of a community of women entrepreneurs who understand that our success is intertwined.
In 2025, let’s focus on building a network where jealousy doesn’t exist—where support, positivity, and empowerment thrive. When we lift each other up, we all rise higher.
