Red Bull Flugtag is a legendary Red Bull event that’s been held in 35 cities around the world. Daring teams build crazy, hand-made flying machines and launch them off a 30 foot ramp to compete for distance and glory. For the first time ever, Red Bull Flugtag set its sights on Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a market traditionally home to a competitor of the iconic brand.
On July 16, Mekky Media took Red Bull Flugtag to new heights. By driving buzz and application entries, connecting the city through contestant stories, partnering with iconic Wisconsin corporate partners like KwikTrip and the Milwaukee Bucks, spotlighting a judging team of five hometown heroes including NFL legend Donald Driver and inviting over 50 social opinion leaders, we brought 50,000 Wisconsinites together to cheer on the 34 teams daring to launch their handcrafted flying machines into the Great Lakes.
The multi-phase earned media campaign that stretched over five months, secured more than 5 billion media impressions, including every broadcast, print and online outlet in all major Wisconsin markets.
