ASK:

Chicago Lights partnered with Mekky Media to lead the organization’s first venture into public relations. The team was tasked with the goal of increasing local awareness for the social service nonprofit’s five key programs - the Urban Farm, Tutoring program, Summer Day, Dance Academy and Social Service Center – to drive an increase in volunteers, program participants and local support and donations. The goal was to elevate the organization’s status as an independent 501c3 nonprofit while nodding to its more than five decades of history serving Chicagoans and its ties to the historic Fourth Presbyterian Church.

RESULTS:

The Mekky team developed a multi-year strategy that highlights each of the programs’ unique aspects and promotion of key fundraising events – like the annual Toast to Tutoring in the Fall and the Spring Gala. The team successfully garnered feature stories on the programs and profiles of the clients, as well as drove media attendance and first-ever media coverage of the annual gala.

In 2020, the Mekky team worked to pivot the strategy in the COVID-19 pandemic to elevate the critical social work and fundraising needs of the organization.
